Kraken sign Forward Chandler Stephenson to 7 year deal

No hard feelings about Game One of the franchise, I guess.

The Kraken continue their free agent frenzy by signing Ex-Golden Knight Chandler Stephenson to a 7 year contract worth $6.25 Million AAV, totaling $43.75 Million.

Stephenson started his career with the Caps, and then made his way to Vegas during their expansion draft, where he briefly served as their top center before Vegas’ spending ways got them higher impact talent. As a player, he’s largely lived as a playmaker, hovering around the 50-point mark for some time, and currently has 270 career NHL points.

As for how he’ll do in Deep Blue? Well…The thing he needs to overcome is that feeling that he was perhaps misused in the Vegas organization, because otherwise while he’s a decent creator of offense, well…

…He needs a little help in the defensive end. He’s always needed it.

If there’s anything we can glean from this that’s good, it’s that he does find a way to create chances (illegally or not), and generally plays a cleaner game than most Knights, meaning he will likely only need to be discussed with once or twice about the usual skullduggery that organization likely taught him.

Frankly I don’t know what Ron’s cooking here; that is a lot of term for a guy who many believe to already be on the downswing, but if he believes the Kraken can rehab this back into being the 2018-19 version of this player, then by all means; he’s earned the right to try. You can’t play safe and gamble at the same time, after all.

Either way, let’s welcome Chandler to The Deep!
