Game Preview
Ah…Another Game 1.
The Reign had plenty of time to relax, and the Firebirds are ready.
The first thing is expect maybe a slow first period as both teams feel out each other’s game. After that? The Firebirds must solve the Reign’s defense and must get Portillo to make saves in close. In the few games he’s given up more than a goal, it’s because the attacking team was able to get into the middle of the ice. Their goal will be at bare minimum splitting the series, and so the Firebirds need to make it clear that while the Reign are good…they’re still very mortal. Oh, and for crying out loud, STAY OUT OF THE BOX. The Reign may not be great at the man-advantage, but the Firebirds have made life very difficult for themselves on the PK lately. After all…they may not get it back.
The Coachella Valley Firebirds are all too good at reminding teams of that.
