On the eve of the postseason, the Coachella Valley Firebirds will add another offensive boost to an already piping hot roster. Sunday afternoon, the Kraken announced the signing of 2023 2nd-round pick Carson Rehkopf to a $950,000 entry level contract set to kick in next season.

”We saw the tremendous progress from Carson as he set multiple career highs in the OHL this season,” Kraken General Manager Ron Francis said via press release. “We are excited for him to officially join our organization.”

The signing arrives following an incredibly successful season with the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, whom he led in goals (52), points (95), power play goals (16), and game-winning goals (10); his 43 assists were good for third. Rehkopf came second in goals and ninth in points across the league.

Rehkopf, along with Lleyton Roed, Lukas Dragicevic, and Victor Östman, will join the Firebirds on amateur tryout agreements for their first stint within the Kraken organization as players newly signed to ELCs. Jani Nyman and David Goyette, already under contract, have already been recalled from the Liiga and juniors, respectively, to round out the Pacific Division-clinching roster.

Kole Lind currently leads the Firebirds in scoring with 65 points this season. Coachella Valley wraps up their regular season today versus the San Diego Gulls.
