Calder Cup Game 3 RECAP: Firebirds fire back huge in 6-2 WIN!

HOW’S THAT FOR A BOUNCE BACK GAME!?

The Highlights!

Game Notes

  • Picture if you will: two games with nearly identical counting statistics; the Firebirds controlled the game otherwise entirely and the Bears only kind of mounted resistance back at them in the form of some snafus defensively. The difference? This time, the Firebirds pounced on every single mistake the Bears made and made them pay dearly. They played with the Acrisure crowd absolutely buzzing and it took Hershey straight out of the game from the opening six minutes, where Max McCormick got himself 2/3rds of the way to a hat trick. They had them guessing at just about everything they did, and it was wonderful.
  • We’ll take a minute to appreciate Mr. Lleyton Roed, who got his first playoff goal tonight and in a HUGE way. Congrats to him!
  • This was another Shane Wright classic; a goal, two assists, and his goal was an absolute beauty; cutting straight through the Bears defense like a hot knife through butter. This dude is ready for the big time. All that’s left is hoisting the Calder.
  • Let’s also give some props to Ryan Winterton, Cale Fleury, and Kole Lind, who were all over the ice out there. Excellent work by them!
  • Max McCormick got his hat trick, by the by. Incredible night for him; most people can only dream of having a hat trick in a playoff game, and he got to live it.
  • Two more to go. Still at home. Make it count.

The Firebirds have a couple of days off for rest and practice, and then set up Game 4 to take a commanding lead of the series. That game begins at 7pm PT, so get your evening together.

Keep Calm, and Post the Firebird When We Win.
